A Fresh Start with Data-Informed Instruction
The 2025–26 school year is underway, and Lacoochee Elementary in Pasco County wasted no time putting Scholar into action. Their team of teachers and instructional leaders are already using the platform to gather meaningful insights that shape classroom learning.
The ELA team at Lacoochee created pre-tests for grades 2–5 to measure key benchmark skills. By starting with Scholar, they were able to quickly digitize assessments, capture results, and use data to guide instruction from day one. Here’s what the team was able to do with Scholar!
Turning Assessments into Action
Instead of traditional paper pre-tests, teachers partnered with PAWfessor Bruce to bring assessments into Scholar. The move gave them immediate access to data insights that highlight student strengths and areas for growth.
Those insights are now driving decisions about:
- Next steps – setting a baseline to measure growth with post-tests later in the semester
- Lesson planning – adjusting instruction to match where students are
- Student grouping – ensuring targeted support and collaboration

A Glimpse Inside the Classroom
Walking into a Lacoochee classroom, you’ll see students logging in to take their assessments on Scholar. Why this impact is powerful: teachers now have real-time visibility into benchmark progress and can make data-informed decisions that save time and boost student learning.
Their ELA coach even noted how much easier it is to identify trends across grade levels with Scholar compared to sorting through stacks of paper tests.

Looking Ahead
The story at Lacoochee is just the beginning. By starting the year with clear data insights, their teachers have set a foundation for meaningful growth. Post-tests will be administered later this year, giving the school an opportunity to measure student progress on the same benchmarks.
We can’t wait to see how Scholar continues to empower teachers and students at Lacoochee Elementary and beyond.
